There are many misconceptions surrounding Tarot reading and it is only after years as a practiced reader that I feel I can offer some guidance to those who read Tarot cards or wish to read them. These are experiences that have helped me and I hope they may help you also.

One thing about Tarot is that we never stop learning. Readers who have been with the cards for years will always say that there is something new to learn about Tarot all the time – which is partly what makes it such a fascinating tool for divination.

It is also a myth that one must have special abilities in order to read Tarot. Every human being has an intuitive nature and it is this side of us, our intuitive side, that connects to divination. While some may be able to connect more naturally to Tarot than others, it is something that anybody can learn if their minds and hearts are open to learning it.

Why Negative Emotion Hinders Tarot Reading

There is one thing that hinders Tarot reading and it is negative emotion.

Negative emotion is not bad per se. It is necessary. These emotions exist to help us discover more about ourselves. They exist so that we may fully understand and better discover the light that exists within us. Negative emotion is often the prerequisite to positive emotion and the transmutation from negative to positive is a powerful ability of the spiritual alchemist.

But negative emotion is a hindrance to spiritual practice of all kinds when it is not in one’s sphere of awareness or under one’s control.

Fear is one of the most powerful negative emotions that exists. In the world we live in today, fear is often generated by those who seek to control others and we see this in the form of the media and individuals in authority who strike fear on a mass scale. 

Fear is a blockage to intuition. It restricts the natural flow of energy through one’s being and makes it hard to access one’s intuition.

Many people struggle to differentiate between their fear and intuition – it can be impossible to tell the difference. It is only once fear is harnessed and controlled that the voice of intuition can come through with greater clarity.

When performing a Tarot reading, it is important to be balanced energetically within as negative emotion – whether it be fear, anger, resentment, or any other lower-vibrational feeling – can affect or manipulate one’s interpretation of a reading or the reading itself.

Negative emotion can affect the cards that come out in a reading. If you are shuffling cards and riddled with fear, it is much more likely that the cards that come out will reflect your fear, rather than address the question itself

How to Fill Yourself With Positive Emotion For Tarot Readings

To ensure the most accurate reading and accurate interpretation, it is important to free yourself from negative emotion so that you become a neutral conduit for the messages that filter through. To do this, you have to raise your vibration. 

Here are some of the best ways to raise your positive vibration.

Eat whole and natural foods

The food and drink you consume plays a role in your emotional state. If you eat junk and processed foods, you create a heavy, tired feeling within your body which can sometimes manifest as low-vibrational emotions. Food which consists of wholefoods and natural foods, such as leafy greens, raw ceremonial cacao, nuts and sweet potato, as well as fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi and kefir, are especially nutritious for a higher vibration.

Meditation

Calming your mind and releasing negative thoughts is also important for creating a high-vibrational state. Spending at least ten minutes meditating, either with guided meditation or music or simply closing your eyes, helps to rebalance energy within your body.

Practicing gratitude

The daily practice of gratitude has amazing positive long-term effects. Journaling the things, living beings, situations and everything else you feel grateful for naturally raises your vibration as you enter a steady state of appreciation.

Spend time in nature

This is a wonderful way to rebalance your energies. Spending time among the trees or woodland replenishes you on so many levels. If you have trouble getting out among nature, bringing plants into your home helps boost the positivity levels of your environment (and is an excellent idea whether you are able to spend time in the outdoors or not).

Get creative!

Do you enjoy painting, writing, singing, dancing, or any other activity that gets your creative juices flowing? Go for it! Incorporate it into your day as much as possible. This is an excellent way to raise your vibrational levels and brings a lot of fun and enjoyment at the same time.

High Vibration is Simply Feeling Good

Remember, anything that makes you feel good raises your vibration.

It is oh-so-easy to get caught up in negative energy depending on your environment, the news or information you consume, the people you are with, or the atmosphere you are surrounded by.

But the truth is that we can alter our own vibrational levels if we wish to. Tarot itself is a fabulous guidance tool which can provide untold help and insight. Ensuring that your vibrational levels are at their best is not just helpful when reading cards, but also brings greater benefits to you in everyday life too.
