Welcome to 2024. A new energy with new invitations. A new chapter with new opportunities.
Each year holds within it an array of cosmic movement, each whispering different themes of insight and invitations of growth, and 2024 is no different.
There is magic within this year that lies ahead of us, living both within moments of beauty and opportunity, challenge, and transition – with perhaps more of the former than in our previous years. And while the stars and planets are forever in motion, not unlike us, there are some movements that hold a larger significance.
Below are just a few of them.
May each of these astrological events be doorways into more of who you are, into deepening your relationship with life itself, and into more joy, meaning, love, and fulfilment. And may you hear those invitations within all these moments, for they do exist there.
Pluto in Aquarius
Dates: 20 January 2024 – 1 September 2024 and 19 November 2024 – 8 March 2043
We have been dancing within the era-defining movements of Pluto from Capricorn to Aquarius since March of 2023. 2024, however, holds the space for the arrival of Pluto in Aquarius for the next 19 years – after it has one final dip into Capricorn, that is.
Pluto is our planet of the underworld. It is transformation, rebirth, empowerment, excavation, and the unconscious. It represents the unseen, the mystery, and our deep inner reserves that are not often journeyed.
An outer planet, Pluto is slow-moving, spending up to 21 years in each zodiac sign. As it transitions into a new sign, we feel that shift deeply. As it enters a new zodiac, it represents an entirely new era for both our personal experience, and that of the collective.
Since 2008, this powerful planet has been journeying through Capricorn, inviting immense transformation in our foundations, responsibilities, securities, and structures, both collectively and individually. It has been shining a light on the spaces within our society and inner worlds that have been built upon power dynamics that we no longer desire for ourselves moving forward. It has been pulling apart structures, and it has been doing so with the knowing that the era that comes next will be pouring into creating new ones – ones built upon service to the collective, and service to a new way of doing things.
Aquarius is an air sign. It is all about change and innovation. It looks to the future, a new way, a better way. It serves humanity, the collective good, and the movement of evolution itself.
Pluto returns to Aquarius for the second time from 20 January 2024 – 1 September 2024. It then shifts back into Capricorn while in retrograde, where it will remain until 19 November 2024. It is on this date that Pluto returns to Aquarius, where it will then remain for the next nineteen years until 8 March 2043.
2024 holds the beginning of a new age for us as a collective.
Where revolution, innovation, evolution, and the transformation of power dynamics are here to be looked at and worked with. It is where we are invited to reconsider the status quo, and the established foundations and structures upon which our society sits and begin to question them. And it brings beautiful opportunity for empowerment, to bring back an inner authority that we hold for our own lives.
Aquarius is the water bearer pouring into the collective from its sacred vessel. Yet according to myth, it isn’t just water that this air sign is sharing with the masses – it’s consciousness, new streams of inspiration, and simply yet powerfully, a new way to do things.

Eclipses are doorways into transformation. They empower. They clear out. They hold endings and open us to beginnings. They are the cycle of life itself, always in motion, forever held within the winds of movement, change and becoming, death and rebirth. Generally speaking, we meet four Eclipses each year, and 2024 is no different.
In July of 2023, the Lunar Nodes moved into Aries and Libra. The Lunar Nodes play a key role within an Eclipse. Comprised of the North Node and the South Node, they connect us to a sense of purpose, destiny, and soulful evolution.
They hold a mystical energy to them, bringing synchronistic events and moments that feel created solely for us, as if life itself where whispering exactly what we needed to hear – whether the experience of hearing what is ours to receive is ‘easy’ or not.
If ever we were to look up into our skies and feel the presence of something guiding us, the Lunar Nodes, and therefore Eclipses, are a part of this feeling.
2024 continues the chapter that began in July 2023 with Eclipses in both Aries and Libra in March, April, and October.
These Eclipses hold within them invitations and reminders of inner courage – the courage to be who we are, to claim the life that calls our name, and to leap into the very creation and living of what we desire. They inspire us to claim our passions, our needs, and our independence, and to channel more of who we are into ourselves, into life, and into our fulfilment.
What this year also holds is the beginning of a new series of Eclipses.
September brings a Lunar Eclipse in the watery sign of Pisces, opening a new story that we will be continuing into 2025. Pisces is our boundless, dreamy, and imaginative sign of the zodiac, and a Lunar Eclipse in this water sign illuminates the ways in which we may be neglecting this part of us, the ways in which we place our intuition to the side or use our imagination or empathy to turn away from reality.
With the intention and invitation to empower our Piscean nature and use this healing, loving, and creative energy in ways that support us, this Eclipse first mirrors the ways we may be expressing these energies in a disempowering way – because awareness is where we begin.
2024 Mercury Retrogrades

Mercury Retrograde in Aries: April 1 – April 25, 2024
Mercury Retrograde in Virgo and Leo: August 5 – August 28, 2024
Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius: November 25 – December 15, 2024
Every planet has its seasons of retrogrades. Some spend up to six months in their backwards spin while others, like Venus, can go over a year without ever meeting an invitation to retrace their steps.
Mercury, however, is not only our planet that shifts into a retrograde the most often, but it is also the planet that lives closest to the Earth in our Solar system and therefore, its movements are noticed in our daily lives.
Mercury in Astrology represents the mind, communication, logistics, learning, scheduling, planning, processing. It is a quick moving planet that is deeply embedded into the way we move through the world day-to-day.
In 2023, we met four Mercury Retrogrades all in Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn). 2024 brings us three Mercury Retrogrades, yet this time, aside from a short dip into Virgo, are in all fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius).
Fire is our action, spirit, inspiration, and passion. It is how we direct our intention and will, and it is our instinctual nature.
As Mercury retrogrades within these three fire signs over the coming year, we are invited to reflect upon how we direct our energy, how purposeful and intentional we are with our action and movement, and the ways we trust in, or not, our instincts as intuitive knowing.
The Mercury Retrogrades of 2024 invite us to take a moment and reflect upon how we receive and engage with the energy of passion, inspiration, and creative self-expression, and how we can do so in a way that is aligned, fulfilling, and true to who we are and who it is we desire to be in the world.
They invite us to create a new relationship, through standing back, reviewing, reframing, and creating space, with the way in which we go after our dreams, create opportunities for ourselves, and empower ourselves to walk upon our own path.
In a way that only seems to invoke a sense of awe, all three of Mercury’s retrogrades of 2024 are connecting with our healer of the zodiac in our skies, Chiron, bringing the potential for wisdom, acceptance, deep inner healing, and wholeness within the backwards spins.
Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Taurus
Date: 20 April, 2024
While the exact conjunction is on 20 April, this energy is active from 3 April – 7 May.
Approximately every 14 years, the outer planets of Jupiter and Uranus come together in our skies forming a conjunction, and 2024 just happens to be one of those years. When we have a meeting of outer planets, it always feels significant.
Outer planets, including Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto – planets outside of the asteroid belt – move slowly. Their impact reverberates out into our worlds, reaching deep into our lives and often impacting us in ways that we continue to unravel for years to come.
These planets often spark changes in the collective, yet also play out individually in our birth charts.
Jupiter in Astrology is our planet of growth. It magnifies whatever it touches. It expands whatever touches it. It brings potential, opportunity, optimism, hope and meaning to the spaces it travels in our skies.
Uranus is our planet of change. It is the lightning bolt cracking open what is expired so that what is new can be planted. It is liberation and innovation, inspiration, and freedom.
It is also a planet concerned with social awareness, the evolution of humanity, and awakening consciousness, and often plays out in surprising, yet wildly impactful, ways.
This meeting in our cosmos is a spark of fresh, innovative, abundant new energies.
It is an invitation to explore new frontiers, both collectively and within our own lives. It is a moment in time for us to completely crack open the narrative of what we feel is possible for ourselves and reach into new opportunities for our lives.
Collectively, it invites a new wave of liberation and freedom, societal change, and evolution.
There can also be a deeply spiritual energy to this transit, in a feeling similar to the Lunar Nodes, where we are held by and within the hands of something greater. Hands that are opening doors to support us uniquely on our journeys.
While Jupiter invites a beautiful stream of faith and trust in life, Uranus gifts us with what could only be likened to foresight. It opens sight, pulls in future potentials and ideas that were floating around in the ethers waiting for us, and it allows us to see the positioning and purpose in where we are right now, the steps we are guided to take in this moment, and how each is leading us deeper into fulfilment and purpose.
Jupiter in Gemini
Dates: 25 May 2024 – 9 June 2025
An exciting, quick, energising, and playful energy of 2024 is that of Jupiter entering Gemini.
The largest planet in our Solar System, Jupiter is all about growth, expansion, truth, perspective, and wisdom. It’s a planet that can feel like luck, good fortune, and abundance, bringing gifts and opportunities wherever it travels.
Gemini, a Mercury-ruled air sign, is all about the mind. It is curious, quick, intellectual, lively, and adaptable.
Gemini wants to learn, communicate, move, gather information, share information. Soon after its meeting with Uranus, as Jupiter enters its realm in the cosmos on 25 May 2024 for the next year-and-a-bit, all the planet’s growth and expansion come into the workings of the mind.
It’s a chapter of intellect, immense curiosity, learning, and sharing. It is an opportunity to strengthen and build confidence in the way we communicate, socialise, and approach learning new things.
And it opens the mind, inviting us to consider new ways of seeing things, understanding things, making the space for the acceptance of different opinions and ways of being in the world.
Jupiter in Gemini is our invitation to expand the horizons of our mind. To play within the mind as if information and learning were the most exciting and empowering spaces available. To try new things and explore new perspectives. And to develop our relationship with adaptability and freedom.
Gemini is an energy that shifts and changes just as freely as the wind, and it is through unclenching our hands and allowing ourselves to ebb and flow in the same way that we will receive our own abundant gifts of Jupiter.

Find within the wheel of your natal chart the zodiacs mentioned above, and take note of the houses that they occupy.
For example, as Pluto moves into Aquarius, we look to locate what house Aquarius lives within in to know what house Pluto will be travelling through in our natal chart.

These houses represent different areas of our lives, and can provide more layers as to, for example, the spaces that Pluto is bringing deep empowerment, transformation, and change to.
For the Eclipses, look to the houses that Aries, Libra, and Pisces occupy.
For Mercury Retrogrades, the houses of the fire signs, and so on.
