What I am Leaving Behind in Order to Flourish

There are certain animals that are either in their growth stage, their uncomfortable stage (where they literally no longer fit what they have grown into) or their shedding stage. I believe people are the same – maybe the stages aren’t so clear cut as that of say, a crab and its shell, but we, as humans, are constantly growing, shedding, learning and evolving – it’s a beautiful part of life. The idea that you no longer need to hold onto things, the idea that whatever story you have been telling yourself about you or your life, you can just let go of – just take that in for a second, it’s a breath of fresh air, it’s a feeling of peace, it’s liberating.

I take inventory on my life often, looking at where I currently am – emotionally, spiritually, health wise/physically, financially – any and all aspects of my life. I look at where I’m heading if I continue on this path, I look at things that may be holding me back, things that light me up and things that bring me down. It all needs your attention and it needs your attention often if you want to actively grow.

There are certain things that you need to let go of about 50 million times because of how deep inside of you it goes – but that’s okay – every time you let go you get that little bit closer to it being completely out of your life, every time you let go you get stronger, and every time you let go, you get lighter. I’ve put together some of my  limitations that I am constantly getting rid, of in hopes that it will light a spark with you, in hopes that it will bring attention to the limitations in your life and help you release them with love.

  1. Low standards

This is one of my new passion projects and ways of life – knowing my self-worth, and sparking your self-worth. It’s one of my favourite things to talk about, and I believe it is so important in today’s world where there are so many messages telling you that you are everything less than what you really are inside.

Lack of self-worth is one of the sisters of low standards – accepting things into your life that you are so so much better than. Take a deep look at your current situation; the people, the job, the consumption, and tell me, is it making you a better human being? If the answer is no, you are worth more than it/them, get.rid.of.it/them. ASAP.

I am crazy stubborn about what and who I accept into my life these days, because I know my worth. I know I am worth what helps me thrive, shine and what fills me to the brim with happiness and love. And I will not accept anything less.

Please, it is time for you to do the same. Look at how fucking amazing you are – stop selling yourself short and allowing shitty vibes into your life. You’re worth more than that.

  1. Comparison

It can be so hard these days to stay clear of comparison, if you let it, it can really take over. The hours scrolling on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter – looking from the outside at others lives. It can be tough to not compare your life to theirs. I get it.

But it’s got to stop. No more wishing you had that, wishing you looked like that or wishing you could do that. More of celebrating what we have, what we look like and what we can do. More of allowing ourselves to get inspired by others, more of celebrating the beautiful human beings around you with confidence that they will do the same for you (and if they don’t- part 1. Get rid of them), and more of standing together and rising as opposed to separating, comparing and knocking each other down.

Next time you find yourself comparing, take yourself out of the situation. Fill your mind with all the beautiful things in your life, go look in the mirror and marvel at your completely fucking beautiful self, fill your soul with gratitude and self-love. We are ALL amazing, beautiful, flourishing humans, and we will only flourish even more when we celebrate ourselves and each other.

  1. Limiting beliefs and self-doubt

If you knew how much was inside of you, you would never be fearful. If you knew how supported and loved you are, you would never stress. Any limiting belief you have about yourself you have either wrongly learned through hurt people in your life, or ill-fitting situations in your life – or you have created that story for yourself. Time to let go of them.

There is so much amazing inside of you, but it’s getting pushed down and down with your negative self-talk, limiting beliefs and self-doubt. Give yourself a chance to flourish and you will.

I literally stop myself mid thought or sentence when I notice any self-bashing, limitations or doubt. I get loud and assertive and I tell myself that doesn’t happen here anymore. I remind myself how capable, strong, soft, supported and full of love I am.

Take notice of your thoughts and beliefs around who you are, what you are capable of and what you deserve. If they aren’t full of anything but love, get in the way and cut them off.

  1. Running from yourself & problems

Running from problems has been a way to occurring theme in my life. It’s one that is deep inside of me – the part of me that I have fittingly avoided touching. So here I am, facing it so I no longer have to be that person that is doing the running. This is me letting go.

It can be really scary facing the reality of some situations. But it doesn’t matter what you try to push it down with, it doesn’t matter where you try to escape to, the longer you leave it the bigger it will get. It only makes sense to face it when it is smaller and when it has less power. So this is what I am trying to do in my life right now. Whether it be a small, minor thing, or that one big thing that’s inside of you. Face everything that comes up with love, patience, and strength, and know that you can get through it.

Lots of love
