As the planets move and dance in our cosmos, they continue to bring invitations, shifts, and transformation for each of us.
With an Aquarius full Moon, Mercury Retrograde Cazimi, the beginning of Virgo Season and many other planetary movements, it’s a full week in our cosmos – an invitation to connect within, observe the movement, and offer what is alive and shifting within a voice to be heard.
Mercury Square Uranus: August 18
Mercury in Astrology is the mind. It is our mental processing, thought patterns, and the lens through which we see the world through. It is also the doorway connecting our higher mind, everyday consciousness, and subconscious.
Mercury has been retrograde since August 4, 2024 – revisiting and reframing memories, experiences, and beliefs. It has been observing all that lives within us from a new perspective – our habitual thoughts and responses, the underground of our unconscious. And has been questioning things living within previously gone unquestioned – untangling, re-organising and re-writing the script of who we are.
On August 18, 2024, Mercury comes into a square with Uranus. The presence of Uranus within Mercury’s dance brings an opening to the mind. Uranus is oriented towards change, the future, ideas, innovation and freedom.
As these two planets come together they highlight the dichotomy within us all – where we have been, and where we are going – and what lives within our mind that must shift in order for us to step into where we are going, re-writing our perspective and beliefs in the process.
Mercury Cazimi: August 18
A few hours later, Mercury comes into a conjunction with the Sun – what is known as a Cazimi – an Arabic term meaning ‘in the heart of the Sun’.
As Mercury Retrograde comes into the heart of the Sun, it is as if it arrives with a package of information and insights from its backwards travelling and meeting with Uranus. Information and insights that we are ready to begin integrating into our Sun self – our identity, selfhood, and continual unfolding of who we are.
The mind can be busy on this day, yet this energy expands beyond just the one day. It’s a transit that brings with it the reminder that we see ourselves and the world through the environment of our minds – that this environment shapes, filters and co-creates our definition of ourselves and life – whether rooted in truth or not.
A day for questioning, compassion, release and re-writing. A day for journaling, grounding, and meditating – or any practice that allows you to clear and de-clutter extra noise, so that you can tune into what is real and true for you.
Venus, Jupiter, Mars & Saturn T-SquareÂ
Just hours before our full Moon of the month, we are met with what is called a T-square in our cosmos. A conversation between three or more planets in specific angles to one another.
On this day, it is Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn that are in conversation – and with so many different voices, archetypes, and expressions of ourselves looking to be heard, it is a day for compassion, spaciousness, and permission to not know everything in this very moment – trusting that things will continue to unfold and come together with time and space.
For these planets while in a T-Square, both within and without, are all saying different things and coming from different perspectives.
Venus in Virgo speaks from the heart and body, while Mars and Jupiter in Gemini speak from the mind, and Saturn from our responsibilities and real-life commitments.
It’s a planetary dance that invites us to observe what gets lit up within us. What emotions present themselves, what thoughts become louder than usual, and what, if any, inner contradictions begin to arise.
While we don’t need to act, change, or understand everything while in this energy, it is planting seeds that we will continue to work with for many months to come. Observation of what arises on this day allows us to begin engaging, integrating, and curiously exploring what seeds are being planets.
Aquarius Full Moon: August 19
While the T-Square of the day continues to massage into each of us, the Moon reaches her fullness while in Aquarius on the same day, simultaneously bringing another T-Square to life – a rare occurrence with two of these aspects on the same day, stirring much energy and change from beneath the surface.
A full Moon is the direct opposition of the Sun and Moon. They sit on different sides of the cosmos, in opposite zodiac signs to one another. As they do so, under this lunation they both come into a square aspect with Uranus creating a T-Square, and making this planet and all that it represents a major ingredient in this full Moon.
It’s a full Moon that asks us – what does it mean to be free? It’s a lunation that speaks to the inherent need to be who we are, follow our own path, and cultivate trust in our own guidance, knowing, decisions, and path.
It’s a full Moon with the intention of breaking down old structures both internally and externally in our lives, arriving at a time where the astrology weather tells us there is vast re-arranging occurring within each of us, with patterns shifting and transformation moving through us.
As it all comes into a culmination under this lunation, this full Moon stands between times – old and new. A bridge connecting who we have been with who we are becoming. Where we have been, with where we are going. A full Moon that reminds us that to be ourselves, is to be free. To follow our own path, is to be free.

Virgo Season: August 22
As the Moon continues to wane, becoming smaller and smaller in our skies, on August 22, 2024 the Sun shifts into Virgo where it will continue travelling until September 22, 2024.
The Sun shifting into a new sign brings a new astrological season, and a new backdrop of energy we are all working with.
As we shift from Leo Season into Virgo Season, we also shift from fire to earth. Here time slows down and the wisdom of the ground beneath our feet becomes more available. We enter a space of integration – where the vast change, movement, and shifting within and without seems to now have the opportunity to assimilate and begin refining, clearing, and organising – bringing us closer to who we now are.
We are invited to clear noise and tune into the earth – and our bodies as an extension of the earth – honouring its pace, listening to its guidance, and taking steps in service to our wellbeing.
Virgo Season is a period of tending, organising, refining, and grounding. It invites us to begin clearing the clutter in our lives, return to the foundations of our wellbeing, and create the rituals, habits, and daily movements that honour and serve us, rather than drain or take us further away from ourselves. Virgo Season amongst vast cosmic movement is a loving breath out, bringing us deeper into our bodies.
