This week brings a change in direction for the dreamy, illusive, and spiritual planet in our skies, Neptune.
While its retrograde comes to an end on 3 December, we are offered the invitation to become one with our dreams, hopes, and wishes.
Neptune Direct: December 3
Neptune is an outer planet sitting on the edge of what we know and are yet to discover. Ruling over the undefinable, it is a planet that takes us into the unseen, into the dreamy realms of imagination and energy.
In astrology its essence is abstract, intuitive, and compassionate, blending boundaries until the separation of Self and all-that-is becomes blurred. As an archetype, Neptune cannot be fully grasped, defined, or placed into a box – which in our reality we can connect with the flow of creativity, the oneness experienced in meditation, the transcendental movement, and the abstract nature of our dreams. It is also a bridge into the world of illusion, disassociation, escapism, and the feeling of a veil appearing in front of us – creating a sense of fogginess.
Being a planet that is further away in our solar system, its effects may not be obvious in our day to day lives. Rather, it becomes etched into the background forces of our reality and it’s often not until we stand back and reflect on its input that we can see its influence at work.
Neptune has been moving in its retrograde motion since June of this year. While its seemingly backwards motion was taking place, we were invited to explore our relationship with spirituality, healing, imagination, and trust in intuition.
While in retrograde, the veil of illusion that Neptune is known for was lifted, allowing us to peer into the intangible with greater clarity.
Whether that be our understanding of cosmology and the greater meaning of life itself – or into our inner worlds, our subconscious, the unseen patterns on auto pilot, and sense of spirit or soul.
That veil was lifted so that we may come into greater clarity around our creativity, sense of purpose, perception of spirit and truth, and get insight into the energetic realms and how it works in tandem with our physical reality. This was an opportunity to witness ourselves and inner workings with greater clarity, too.

As Neptune stations direct and begins to move forward once again this veil returns, and it returns with the invitation of working with it in a new way. Within astrology every planet, zodiac, or archetype holds higher and lower octaves and Neptune’s higher octaves are that of love, oneness, creativity, and compassion. It is the flow we find ourselves in while making art, moving our bodies intuitively, imagining beautiful possibilities, or seeing divinity in a child’s face.
This retrograde that we are emerging from has been a period to realign and refocus, to fine-tune our dreams and path of purpose, and to see ourselves with greater clarity so that we know how to connect with, support and heal ourselves.
Now, we are invited to connect with this greater knowing that has been placed in front of us and we get to become one with it, to create with it, dream with it, and let it become us, and us it.
This is a time to immerse ourselves in dreaming, imagination, art, creativity, and spirituality. It is an opportunity to live, breathe and become one with our dreams with such connection that they cannot help but trickle down into our physical realities. To become intertwined with our greatest hopes and wishes so that they can become real.
