September brings us our final Mercury Retrograde of 2021. When Mercury begins its retrograde motion, we have a total of 6 planets in retrograde for a short period of time. When there is an abundance of retrograde motion, as there has been, and will continue to be until mid October, we are being asked to slow down, to reconsider, review, to look within before we forge ahead.
Where Mercury Retrograde has definitely made a name for itself over the past few years, instead of letting fear or disempowerment come into this beautiful cosmic alignment, let’s look at this from a higher perspective.
From the perspective of Source itself. From the perspective of our infinite selves, our Soul, our spirit.
From the perspective of our wider, broader, magical journey in this lifetime.
Every astrological event is here to serve our ultimate growth, fulfilment, healing, and the expression and embodiment of our Souls. Every astrological event is here to serve our deepest happiness, and our most magical life.
It’s quite literally Life, the Universe, God, shifting the frequencies of the cosmos to hold us in the deepest healing and support that we need at the time, both on a collective and individual level.
Every astrological event, including Mercury Retrograde.
When Mercury is slowing down in the cosmos, it appears (from our view) to be moving backwards. This change in speed opens a change in frequency that can be felt in our collective consciousness, as well as our inner worlds and minds.
This change in frequency is an opportunity to tap into different energies within ourselves. It is pulling us inward to almost mimic that backward movement by revising, reviewing, pausing.
It is no time of ‘bad luck’ and there is absolutely no need for fear. Knowing that you will never, ever be brought something that you are not ready, or entirely capable enough to move through…
How can any newfound awareness that Mercury Retrograde brings, serve you and your growth?
That’s the perspective that is aligned with our Souls.
In astrology, Mercury represents our mind.
It is the planet that rules over our communication, our logic, thoughts, intellect, and learning.
Throughout 2021, all of Mercury’s Retrograde have been through Air Signs – Aquarius, Gemini, and now Libra. The air element ruling our minds, this brings the retrograde energy even further into the mind. Where 2020 was very emotional based as Mercury Retrograde ventured through water signs, this year the retrogrades are much more analytical, detached, mental, and thought based.
Being in the sign of Libra, we are being guided to reflect on the themes of balance, harmony, communication, relationships, and beauty in our lives. There is an emphasis on the balance in our lives, the balance in ourselves, and the balance in our relationships – whether friendships, business partnerships, or romantic relationships.
There is a cosmic ushering to bring us back to peace in our lives. To breathe deeply and restore balance in our lives.
Is there an area of your life that has been taking centre stage to the detriment of another? If you could categorise your life, how balanced is your attention, effort, care, in each of these categories? How about your days, how you spend your time, do you feel balance, harmony, peace?
Mercury is our planet of communication, and when he is in retrograde, he revisits messages that may have previously gone unnoticed, or perhaps, noticed but not followed. Messages that our Souls are communicating to us with the intention of our highest and most fulfilling expression.
If something is brought into your awareness under this period, let yourself actually pause, let yourself actually look at it, feel it, question it, and ask yourself what guidance can be found from here. Let yourself acknowledge that it is your Soul, your heart, it is the Universe, God, speaking to you, ushering you into your most freeing self.
As we enter into and move through October, the 6 planets in retrograde slowly drop away leaving us with just two. As Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter and then Mercury turn direct, there is a new configuration of energy that we are bringing into our awareness, almost like the light turning green, the wheels beginning to spin – the road is open, and you might just feel the cosmos giving you a push to get moving again.
So if any time you feel the delays that come with this overabundance of retrograde motion, return to calm, return to peace, return to the trust and knowing that the light will soon turn green – no matter what is happening right now, the light will soon turn green. So while we are here, how can you replenish yourself? While we are here, what can you reflect on? What is waiting in your awareness that will help you once you are in a forward motion again?
