Mars Retrograde Invitations
Since December 6, 2024, Mars has been in its perceived backwards spin through both Leo and Cancer. Throughout this time our action and expression was turned inward. It invited us to slow down, reconsider our desires, and conserve our energy. It invited us to reconnect with our own life force and heal our relationship with our body’s guidance – learning to listen and follow, honouring when we need rest, honouring our own pace.
A deeply introspective time, Mars Retrograde arrived to change the pace in which we were living life for a moment and in this slower pace, learn to honour our life force, our needs, and our desires in a new way. It has been a space of retreat, forced stillness. Less action and more review. Outward expression and movement placed on pause.
We were invited to pause, rest, and move at a slower pace. We were invited to build new boundaries, respect our own ‘No’, and listen to our bodies. We were invited to reconsider our desires and reassess what is worth our creative force, action, and inner resources. And we were invited to look directly in the eyes of the many ways we weren’t valuing our own energy, life force, rhythm, and fundamental needs.

Today however, this retrograde comes to an end. February 23, 2025, brings the forward movement of Mars while in Cancer where it will continue swimming until April 18, 2025, freeing up much of our life force for each of us to begin moving forward once again, too.
As Mars stations direct, we will have renewed access to our life force, passion, will, and energy. Drive returns, while vitality, confidence, and renewed understanding of our desires emerge.
We are re-awakening from a slumber, with the relief and release that comes with freely opening our expression channels one again, allowing life force, vitality, and passion to move freely through us and into aligned action.
What did this down-time seek to remind you? What did it bring into your awareness or spark into your consciousness? As we move forward, we move with greater wisdom – with the experience of our own retrograde guidance as navigation for our path ahead.
Mars in Astrology is fire, and Mars is action. Mars is passion, drive, expression and desire. Alive within us all, it’s retrograde arrived so that we may bring greater discernment, alignment, and mastery to this force within – so that we may move with intention guided by inner truth, deeper needs, and respect for our own life force.
Mars & The Astrology of 2025
As we find a new pace and rhythm as Mars moves direct – soon in the dance are the retrogrades of Venus and Mercury alongside Eclipse Season and the era-defining shift of Neptune. 2025 begun slowly, a new year started while we were in deep reflection and realignment.
As we continue through this year, March and April we are finding our footing, closing and releasing, expressing and reviewing – there is transformation throughout these months. Yet as we meet May and beyond, we meet opening, new beginnings, and dream-creating as Neptune explores its new lands of Aries where it hasn’t been since the 1800’s, Saturn also joins the fiery sign in May, Jupiter enters Cancer in June, and Uranus explores Gemini for the first time in 76 years in July.
The Astrology of 2025 is profound. It is new, different, and transformative. It opens a new era while simultaneously holding us in deep closure of cycles we have been in for decades. As Mars stations direct (and especially after Venus Retrograde ends in April), we get to immerse ourselves in this incredible year.
