As Jupiter begins its descent into the underworld of its retrograde, it joins a list of other planets in retrograde, including Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Chiron, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto.

When is Jupiter Retrograde 2023?
As Venus Retrograde comes to an end, Jupiter begins its annual backward spin the very next day on 4 September, 2023 and continuing for the remainder of the year until 31 December, 2023 in the grounded and earthy sign of Taurus.
Jupiter entered Taurus in May of this year beginning a new one-year chapter. This has been a time to nurture our dreams, ground and physicalise our desires, and to create a sense of long-lasting beauty, security, and stability in our lives.
What is Jupiter in Astrology?
Jupiter in Astrology is known as our planet of expansion.
It is a planet that desires to become more than what it currently is, and represents within us our capacity to vision, to look to the future and hold hope in its becoming, and to lean into faith that there is something on our side supporting us while we journey through this vast life.

Jupiter Retrograde
When a planet retrogrades, we observe as it retraces its steps moving back through its journey just taken. Revisiting each forward movement, every action taken, experience had, emotion felt, and insight gained. Looking over each step, learning and gaining wisdom through this reflection.
As Jupiter begins its retrograde this week, we are gifted an opportunity to revisit our experience of Jupiter in Taurus that we have been in since May this year. We look back and within and we do it from a new perspective this time. We have walked here. And we have grown since we walked here.
What more can this experience show us from the new eyes we have gained since walking here? What can we see now that we missed before on our forward journey?
This is a beautiful opportunity to reflect on our goals and visions. The ones held at the beginning of the year, and the ones that have emerged since.
This reflection may ask us to shift our visions, add to them, take some away, alter their direction, update some details. It may ask us to observe how we have been supporting the realisation of these dreams, and perhaps how we have been moving against them. It may ask us to tend to our beliefs around worthiness and value, faith, and trust.
All so that once Jupiter stations direct once again at the end of the year, we journey this same path in an intentional way, a purposeful way, each step filled with the wisdom gained from our first walk down these roads.

As Venus Retrograde comes to an end the day before Jupiter begins, there is an opening, a greater access to ease, movement, and clarity.
As Jupiter is an outer planet, existing further away from the Earth and slower in its movement, the influence of its retrograde isn’t quite as obvious or felt as Venus.
