What is a Cazimi?
Coming from the Arabic word, ‘kaṣmīmī’ meaning ‘in the heart’ a Cazimi occurs when a planet comes into the heart of the Sun, or more specifically, a conjunction of one degree.
It is in the heart of the Sun that this planet is infused with life-giving vitality, potency, and new beginnings. Here the planet initiates a new cycle, dreams new dreams, and receives fresh inspiration. Purified by the Suns inner temple; new truths are revealed, perspectives are expanded, and new seeds are planted.
While each planet has its own energy that is amplified through its meeting with the Sun, any Cazimi is a beautiful day to clarify our visions, begin a new cycle, or weave new dreams into being. It is a day that we, too, enter the heart of the Sun to receive its life-giving sustenance, downloads of inspiration and profound energetic clarity.
Types of Cazimis
Due to our regular perceived backwards and forward movement in the skies, there are two kinds of Cazimis.
The first is known as an inferior conjunction. This occurs when the planet is in retrograde and travelling between the Sun and Earth at the time of its Cazimi.
The second is known as a superior conjunction and is when the planet meets a Cazimi in its usual forward movement and is on the opposite side of the Sun from the Earth.
While inferior cazimis bring a more palpable presence and personal revelations, superior cazimis invite us to zoom out and see the bigger picture – just as the planet itself holds a larger perspective while travelling on the other side of the Sun. Both offer a beautiful illumination, new perspectives, revelations and medicine of the planet involved.
2025 Cazimis
Every planet has its moment with the Sun each year. Even the Moon, which when in a Cazimi is considered a New Moon. Under a new Moon we are invited to begin again as we plant new seeds of desires.
Mercury, with its quick movement that never strays too far from the Sun, by far meets the most cazimis each year, with an opportune-rich five cazimis in 2025. While Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto each enter the heart of the Sun just the once.
Mercury Cazimi
Mercury is our messenger of the Cosmos. He travels throughout the cosmos between each of the ‘Gods’ – or planets – gathering insights, information, and messages. He also travels between higher realms of consciousness and the underworld of our unconscious, sharing insights and delivering whispers.
As Mercury comes into the heart of the Sun, it’s as if all these collected messages, whispers, insights, and information comes directly into the spotlight of our awareness. It’s a day to access new insights, inspiration, ideas and wisdom. It is a day of higher intelligence, to tap into the ever-present field of possibility and information alive within our cosmos. And it is a day to heighten our intuition and bring our conscious and unconscious material into a beautiful and collaborative partnership.
When retrograde Mercury comes into the heart of the Sun (inferior conjunction), the messenger of our cosmos sits between the Earth and our Sun. The insights streaming forth and asking for our awareness on this day are often deeply intimate and influential in our personal lives. This is the closest Mercury will get to our planet, and therefore us, and so it is on this day that we have a beautifully personal access to the oracle, scribe, and transmitter of our cosmos.
When direct Mercury forms a Cazimi (superior conjunction), it is sitting on the other side of the Sun from our point of view. From this place in our cosmos Mercury offers a vast perspective. The intel on offer invites us into this widened lens, too – expanding our perspectives and offering big picture insights.

Venus Cazimi
Our goddess of love, beauty, worth, and harmony, as Venus enters the heart of Sol, its medicine is amplified and even more available for each of us to bathe in. The embodiment of worthiness, the healing of our hearts, the medicine of beauty. A recalibration into balance, the healing nature of pleasure, and the presence of harmony. All of this is available as a healing balm under a Venus Cazimi.

Chiron is our celestial body of healing. It is the alchemy of wounds into medicine – its gifts (our gifts) revealing themselves only as we come into presence, acceptance, and love with our own inner hurts.
